Last Friday, four of us had a truly wonderful dining experience at Finch Tavern in Croton Falls. For appetizers we had butter poached lobster, mackeral tartare, pasta with mixed shellfish and a grilled asparagus with goat cheese salad. The butter poached lobster was sublime, the flavor of butter melding nicely with the delicate flavor of the lobster without overpowering it. Entrees included veal, grilled meditteranean style tuna and seared sea scallops on a spring pea risotto with pancetta chips. I don't eat veal but my friend said it was excellent. Both the tuna and the sea scallops were perfectly cooked and went beautifully with their respective accompaniments. Even desserts impressed. The usual molten chocolate cake managed to be a cut above, with the slightly crispy chocolate crust giving way to a luxuriously smooth bittersweet chocolate center. This review in no way does justice to how good the food was. I should also note that the service was excellent and the ambience was lovely (low noise level!).
