Finally went to Keens

princeofpork | Jun 3, 2010 06:57 AM

After reading all the posts by RGR, SR85 and many others, I went to Keens last night.
Sat in the room at the top of the stairs by the front windows. There was 3 of us.
We started with the seafood platter. Note I did not say tower as this was not the traditional seafood tower it was a huge platter packed with seafood. Shrimp, crabmeat, lobster, 2 types of clams, 2 types of oysters, mussels. It was $60 and a huge platter of seafood. Probably the best value I have seen in a steak house. All seafood seemed very fresh.
For entrees we ordered the porterhouse for 2 and the primerib. The PH was much thicker than I have seen at Luger and Wolfgangs. Probably twice as thick. The PR was delicious, tender and silky. THe PH had a great crust and juicy center. For desert we ordered the Coffee Canata (of course) and Keens’s Red Berry Bibble. I love coffee ice cream with fudge but this Berry Bibble blew it away. Fantastic flavor and texture. If you havent tried its a must. Great wine list. Tons of bottles across the globe for under $50. We ended up with a Groth Cab that was great. All in all a very positive steakhouse experience.
