Fig and Mascarpone Cheese quiche at Season's Market

elvislives | Jan 20, 2004 01:36 PM

Yesterday I picked up an interesting quiche combination at Season's Market, and man was I rewarded! this was the most delicious quiche I've ever had. the figs tasted like they had been poached in red wine and combined with the mascarpone cheese and traditional quiche pie crust, egg & cream base and touch of nutmeg - it was sublime. figs and mascarpone seemed like unusual quiche fillings, but everything worked wonderfully together, and it was perfectly comforting, rich and satisfying, a heavenly dish! (unfortunately they make a different quiche each day, so I will have to keep my eye out for it's return)

some items can be hit and miss, but many of the dishes at Season's Market on Allen and Rivington (take-out food & caterers) are great. and I like the ease of stopping in on my way home and being able to pick up a couple complete meals at a good price. they always have an excellent selection of fresh vegetables.
