Recently I have been obsessed with dried figs however I've never eaten a fresh one or one that has been "prepared". I'm not really even sure what to do with them. Please help me answer some questions and educate me on all that is fig.
How do I tell if the fig is ripe?
What kinds are the best?
Do I eat the skin or peel it or what?
What can I do/cook with them?
Where in NYC is the best place to get them? (Are fruit stands okay? What about Grand Central Market - I work nearby?)
