Does anyone know what the difference is between the buffet at Fiesta Mexicana (Jackson Heights) on the weekends and the weekdays? I love to go during the week, but the $4 price on the weekends tends to put it out of the "cheap, filling and good category" and into the "filling and good category." But, when I walked past it last night, I saw that they do some kind of special for the buffet on the weekends. So, I'd be curious to see if anyone was aware of what makes it special.
And, as to some of the other posts made earlier about the steam tables, I think you're missing the point of the approach. None of the dishes are as dynamite as when you order a la carte, but I like to think of it more along the lines of the food you get at a big community picnic: it's made for a big group of people, and the pleasures aren't in the individual items, but the harmonies you can build up between them. And anyway, who can turn down all you can eat tripe, goat and pozole?
It's more humble fare, but I always leave feeling really great and ready for a nap.
