Went to Fiamma last night (Sunday) with the whole family. Big 'ol table for six.
The food was truly outstanding. I had a tuna carpaccio appetizer which was fresh and excellent, followed by a veal chop that was literally off the charts. Others had fish (sea bass?) or pasta and were very pleased.
Wine was great, service was good (maybe just a tad smug??). Not a cheap place but highly recommended. Totally different than Steve Hanson's other places.
I think Fiamma will be my new "fallback" fancy Italian in NYC.
