Fête bio-paysanne at la TOHU 14-16 August
7th year for the eco-biological "peasant agriculture" festival at la TOHU, corner Jarry E. and rue d'Iberville.
The weather is nicer this year than last - the vegetables a year ago were a bit lacklustre. Other nearby foodie destinations include Bistro Tribu-Terre (just opposite La TOHU and Cirque du Soleil headquarters) http://www.tributerrebistro.com/ and of course the famous Kim Phat supermarket a bit farther east on Jarry.
Some products are cheaper than in supermarkets or healthfood shops, and there is tasting. There is a little farm (mostly of interest to children) last year featuring traditional Québec breeds of horses and cattle, conferences and events of interest to different age groups.
To get there: by public transport - métros Frontenac and Iberville - bus 94 north (does not come often - check timetable at stm.info) or métro Jarry and but 193 east (much more frequent than the 94).
by car: it is very close to the 40 (autoroute métropolitaine): travelling eastwards: exit 74 - Iberville
travelling westwards: exit 75 - Saint-Michel.
by bicycle - the Boyer/Christophe-Colomb north-south bicycle path. Coming north I turn off onto Villeray and ride up on Iberville, as I don't like riding along Jarry very much. Perhaps you have another route?
At the fetebiopaysanne site, you'll see that there is also an event in Québec City 4-5 September
