Please help! Need festive business dinner venue in Miami Beach

Katerina | Aug 27, 200304:46 PM

Dear South Florida hounds, help me in my predicament.

I am NOT familiar with Miami at all (live in NYC). I'll be attending the ASTA convention in Miami in late October, and need your help with the following.

I need to take a group of people from my home office (they are all Eastern Europeans, mostly men in their 30s and 40s), as well as a few grandees from the US travel industry, to an official festive dinner. Originally the idea was to take them to a "Central European" restaurant (at least in atmosphere), but it turns out there aren't that many, the closest thing I found is a place called Blue Duna, which is Hungarian. It wasn't deemed upscale enough. I am hoping that a dinner for one, with a glass of wine, would come to anywhere between $50 and $75, maybe a teeny bit more, but not a lot more.

I want a place with good food but especially, great ambience, that isn't too loud, scene-y (as in, indtimidatingly trendy), through-the-roof expensive but still classy, and that isn't very obviously defined by the nationality of the cuisine (i.e., I don't want a clearly Spanish or Italian place). Something "eclectic" or vaguely European would be ideal; of course Central European (German, Austrian...) would be perfect.

Secondly, I need a good FUN authentic place with moderate prices to take my bosses another evening, just for that "Miami experience" to remember. Something more relaxed and cheaper than the previous venue, but nothing cheesy.

ANY advice is appreciated. You can also e-mail me at pavlitka at yahoo dot com.
