Feast of the seven fishes LOGISTICS

Because I love seafood, Italian cuisine, and insane cooking challenges, I'm thinking about doing a Feast of the Seven fishes for my boyfriend and his parents this year. I have never been to one, and am having difficulty wrapping my head around how one does this for a home cooked meal.

For those of you who have hosted or attended a seven fish feast, how is the cooking and serving handled? Do you actually serve seven separate courses, one after another? Is the whole family helping with cooking? Does the cook just stay in the kitchen all night?

I know everyone has their own take on this tradition, but I'm interested in hearing your stories. Thank you in advance!
