I think I just had my first dish with Szechuan peppercorns in it. It tasted like nothing else I'd ever eaten, AND it made my mouth feel funny. There was a flavor in it that did seem like an aromatic dried berry thing, like juniper berries perhaps.
It was delicious but I was a little freaked out by the sensation. Is this entirely safe? Can you eat too much of it?
The funny part was that the waitress was quick to warn us about this dish - but it was about the fact that it had lots of little bones.
