Today I was on East 7th St near 1st Ave.. I was hungry and in a bit of a rush. I stopped at Porchetta and grabbed some roasted potatoes with crispy pork, it tastes so good, and calms the hunger down. I think it's $6.
I then go slightly west up 7th and stop by Luke's for not a lobster roll ( i'm lobster rolled out) but a shrimp roll. It was loaded with shrimp on a pressed toasted bread and was really good. At half the price of a lobster roll ( about $8), I think it is a much better deal and almost as good. Well wouldn't ya know it, I was still craving something porkish. So conveniently Maharlika was right there on 7th and 1st where I could get sizzling sisig, which I love but decided I didn't want to wait and saw the sign outside Wechsler's " voted the best curry wurst", it sounded interesting. They had lots of different brats, but i had to try the currywurst. Sliced wurst in a redcurry sauce with french fries for $7. It was very good. So E. 7th St vacinity is my new favorite street. Kyo Ya happens to be right there too, for a great meal. E. 9th is my favorite Japanese block, with Robataya, Soba Ya, Cha An, Hasaki, Yokocho, Sunrise Market and more and more. I strayed for dessert and went to Billy's on Franklin for a banana cupcake and latte. What is your favorite block to just go "eating" on.
