It's fava bean season in the SF Bay Area. The only time I really enjoyed these is when my Grandmother and Mom were visiting so I had a lot of help to shell the beans, blanche, and then remove the inner layer on the bean. I would like to enjoy them w/ out doing so much work. Is is really necessaryto remove the inner layer? Are there any ideas for getting around this or recipies which are good w/ the inner shell left on.
I get these beans in my weekly produce box and from friends. So, I'd really like to enjoy these a bit better. Thanks.
