During a recent trip to SF, I made my way to the Ferry Bldg., intent on tracking down Cowgirl Creamery and Fatted Calf Charcuterie, among other vendors, both of which I'd heard had outposts there. I got to the food arcade and, sure enough, found Cowgirl but no Fatted Calf (nor, for that matter, any farm stands, which I also expected). I asked someone in one of the shops about FC and he drew a blank. Although my friends and I managed to cobble together a nice lunch from the various sources, I left the place dejected--not to mention having the lard-withdrawal shakes for the rest of the day-- thinking I must have misunderstood the info I'd collected. But then, alas, the NYT food section mentioned FC again two days ago, in the article on beef jerky, and they seemed to situate it in the same building. It appears that I blew it and missed the target altogether. For the sake of my next trip, where did I go wrong? Where is FC? Where are the farm stands?
