The Market at Farmshop in Brentwood now appears to be fully stocked. The designers did an outstanding job making the space bright and inviting. There is an open cheese display with some very interesting cheeses. The refrigerator case carries a nice selection of some good boutique yogurts and other dairy products (e.g. Strauss Family and Bellwether).
Most impressive is the deli case. I picked up a Salmon Rillette with caper berries and it was delicious ($12.50). Of Note: The Fried Chicken is in the deli case. I asked if it is the "Ad Hoc" Chicken which is served on Sunday nights?" "YES!! Thus, I decided to buy a 1/2 breast ($4.25) and take it home. It really is delicious, even cold. There is just enough variety in the case to make it interesting. Everything looked beautifully prepared; very pleasing to the eye.
Further exploration led me to the Valeries confections and a lovely selection of preserves. Moving on, there was a good charcuterie and very inviting, if not exciting, bakery.
The weakest departments are the fresh produce (which did not look very fresh) and the butcher shop. I can't imagine going there to buy my meat. Also, I think there was one ribeye steak in the case, so no real selection (yet).
The restaurant was absolutely packed at lunchtime and service appeared to be brisk and diners happy. Where the bakery and cashier were, prior to the opening of the Market, is now a bar seating about 6 people. Nice addition to the neighborhood.
