i love cheddar cheese. i must say that upfront. i never, never thought i'd find a cheddar i didnt like. but...i bought a wheel of farmhouse cheddar at costco. i felt i 'owed it' to ford farm in england to give it a try(i was planning to go with the more familiar cabot cheddar. i opened it up and was overwhelmed with a taste similar to hard boiled eggs. it tasted like h.b. eggs as well. i love hard boiled eggs(with salt, pepper and tabasco) but found it dreadful in cheddar. is this an example of costco selling something it has no expertise in,ie; its just bad cheddar. or is this a flavor ( caused by the nature of the grass eaten by the cows, for example?) that i'm simply not familiar with.
anybody else had this? thanks, joan
