Despite the lack of enthusiasm for Pico (on this board), my family and I decided to try Pico last night (wanted to see what the media-hype was about). We all decided to have the $95 tasting menu (with wine accompaniment) and what a meal it was! From beginning to end, each course was fantastic and the wines, which were paired with them, were perfect (including a white port with the foie gras). Some of the dishes included braised lamb shank with cus cus, seared red snapper and sticky rice in a coconut broth, suckling pig (which had perfectly crispy skin and deliciously moist meat), and fois gras with spiced apple. The courses were followed by a sampling of desserts that were also divine.
Sadly, throughout the course of our meal (which lasted around 3 hours) the restaurant remained fairly empty (at most, 3/4 full). So, I felt it necessary that I post this rave review. Pico is definitely a downtown restaurant that should top people's list.
