Fancy food stocking stuffers?

dillard | Dec 16, 2004 03:06 PM

I was just at South End Formmagio's where I found the following for some stocking stuffers:

Chocolate covered and chocolate stuffed figs (Rabitos Royals from Spain?) $1 each, scarily good
Fancy hot chocolate mix $3.50 (haven't tried)
Tiny Italian nougats $1.50 each (ditto)
Pietro Romanengo fu Stefano candies -- little sugary meltaways with fruit flavors $.70 each, amazing

And then I bought myself a champagne kumquat gelatin from the display because it sounded so wacky ($1.75). It was interesting but not all that.

Someone on this board recommended the panforte from Dave's Fresh Pasta, and I second this. Got some of that for a stocking stuffer as well (they sell it in small slices too). I also try to swing by Modern and get some torrone for the sock. Oh and I love the marrons glaces.

Do you have any suggestions for other favorite small but wonderful holiday things? Where do you go?
