My dad is retiring soon and our family would like to take him out for a celebratory dinner. There will be 11 of us (3 kids, 8 adults) and the only date when we can all do it seems to be Sunday Feb 14, Valentine's Day. What are some tasty places where a small group can go and have a good festive dinner despite the romantic holiday? Is everything prix fixe that night and geared towards couples or will restaurants welcome a small group? We don't require a private room (though it would be nice), but we want to be able to hear each other talk w/o yelling over music. Almost all of us identify as foodies and even the kids (aged 11 and 9) are pretty adventurous. We dislike chains and have experts in the Chinese food scene amongst us already. Budget is flexible--no one wants to pay for the most upscale place in town, but great food, smooth service, and festivity are more important than $. We are not big drinkers and can eat on the earlier side. Valentine's themed menu or event is fine as long as the restaurant can handle our group amongst all the smoochy lovers. Geographically the bulk of the group is coming from either mid-town or Grant Park w/one couple driving in from Villa Rica.
