Our middle daughter, birth name Svetlana, is from the Black Sea port city of Novorossiysk, Russia. We adopted her when she was four from an orphange there and is now a thriving 14 year old. She remembers nothing about her experiences there nor the language. After dining at Aziza, we went across the street and browsed a Russian deli.
After this little trek, I felt it would be good to see if anyone can give some recommendations for an authentic Russian restaurant and dishes that I could take her myself while we are here. A few years ago we stopped by the Russian Rennaisance to try and go for lunch, but it was the day after the Russian new year's eve party and the place was a wreck and they were closed cleaning up from the party the previous night. The person who came to the door said that they had been drinking vodka and dancing on the tables until dawn.
If anyone can provide some ideas, I would be greatly indebted.
