Faicco's - good italian heros in west village

Just had a good simple straightforward overstuffed New York Italian hero sandwich at Faicco's on Bleecker Street. It's basically a pork store (they make sausages), but they also have a typical italian deli assortment of meats, cheeses, peppers, olives and the like. They also have an Italian grocery assortment of pastas, peppers, sauces and so on. I'm probably not close to doing justice to their meat offerings, sorry.

The hero was straightforward, good chewy bread, good cheese, excellent roasted marinated peppers and tasty hot pepper spread (seemed to be their own creation, not from a jar).

Speaking of great hot pepper spread, Buon Italia in Chelsea Market used to have a delicious one, but they've stopped importing it and I haven't seen the particular brand elsewhere (and of course I forget the brand, but I'd recognize the label). Anyone recommend a particular Italian pepper spread in a jar?
