Mom is coming to visit me for a day in the city for her birthday and as part of the day, I want to take her for the best pastries, cookies, mini sweets in Manhattan...preferably French...(not a 'high tea,' preferably a la carte), somewhere where we can sit down and feel special.
I've gotten two pieces of advice, Payard and Fauchon. The person who recommended Fauchon said that they were not impressed at all with Payard. The person who suggested Payard was French and that it was as close to France as she had found in New York.
Help! This is for a really special occasion.
