Following Simon's recommendation of the Mangal in Upper Street, my bother and I this evening staged a partial re-enactment of Marco Ferreri's 1973 classic 'La Grande Bouffe'. Fortunately, for others in the restaurant we stopped a little short of the films sexual and scatalogical denoument but still had a lot of fun and a lot of meat.
Starting with the calf's livers, imam beyuldi and houmus. The livers so good, we had to have more. Then a succulent mixed grill of adana, shish, chicken, minced chicken and quail with a superb salad, rice, breads and bulgar.
We resisted the deserts. The coffee was terrible. Two bottles of red brought the bill to around sixty quid.
They were v v busy, and deserve to be so.
