I just had dinner for the second time in two weeks at Mesa and it was superb. Both times it's been almost empty. It seems to get a fair amount of recommendations on this board. The food, drinks, and service are all excellent. The price is a steal for the quality of their dishes. The area isn't the prettiest and the drive from Dallas is scenic if "war-zone" can be considered scenic. Is there a mental block about crossing the river? If I lived in Dallas I'd be working through the menu as fast as I could so that I could retry everything again. I don't understand how a place this good can be so empty any day of the week.
This visit I had the Mole Mama Cata, which was superb melt in your mouth goodness. The mole sauce was a velvety rainbow of taste. I had the orange flan for dessert. I don't like flan and I'd never order it. The waiter recommended it as his favorite. Based on the strength of the last meal and this one I gave it a try. This was excellent; far better than any flan I've had in the past and definitely something I'd order again (here).
