My experience at Kanella...

kmsue | Jul 29, 2009 07:58 PM

I just came back from my first experience at Kanella and, just like most of other 'hounds on this board, I would like to sing its praises (LOL), but In addition to the food, I must say, that the wait staff is amazing! our waiter,John Sterling, was so friendly and only added bonus points to our already great experience!!

I went with a friend from school to catch up and we had the most wonderful time! We each started with an appetizer- she had the Dips of the day and I had the Thessalonici parcel. The dips were fabulous! I believe they were garlic, regular hummus, and something w/ olives- John did explain which each one was, but it was a bit noisy at the time and I couldn't hear everything.

My parcel was good, but I would say that I enjoyed the grilled veggies and peach probably a bit more than the actual pastry itself. i just felt like there was too much dough and not enough filling, but that might be just me...

For our main dish she had the Lamb and I had the pan seared-fish- I believe it was tiger lily?-served with beans, greens, and capers

Anyway, when the fish came out, it was a nice sized piece- and as soon as I placed a piece of the fish in my mouth, I could have died and been perfectly happy! It was so delicate it practically melted in my mouth!

The lamb was wonderful as well- however I am not the biggest fan of it, its a bit too gamey for my liking, but my friend had no complaints =)

I just wish that I could've saved some room for dessert-but I guess that is a goal for the next time I visit!
