expanded Andy's Deli now open

I happened upon the grand opening of the newly expanded Andy's Deli (5438 N. Milwaukee, former home of Hasty Pup "garden on a bun") last Saturday, in search of kabanosy (thin, ready to snack on sausages) for an impromptu Cubs viewing party. This is a deli on steroids--ready-to-eat hot entrees, with a few cafe tables; catering; two large cases of homemade deli meats, cheeses & sausages; fresh meats; large dairy case with butters from all over Europe; fresh bread and pastries, etc. The family has been happily snacking on salceson (head cheese), ser krolewski (king's cheese) and ham rolled in pepper all week. The guests ate all the kabanosy. Sweet World Pastry is next door. My shopping experience was topped off by free sandwiches and cake--you can't beat that! The lady in front of me was buying Hellmann's "majonez babuni"--grandmother's mayonnaise, imported from Poland, made in Czech Republic. Only in Chicago. Anna
