I am always on the lookout for good southern biscuits and gravy. It seems simple but many places in the bay area fail to do them well. For example - using brown gravy instead of white or country gravy or adding wierd stuff to the biscuit (ala Kate's Kitchen which has won my "Worst Biscuits and Gravy on the Planet" award).
But I've recently had a stellar example at Memphis Minnie's - on Saturdays & Sundays they serve two big, buttery biscuits with very nice sausage gravy for $3.95. Delicious. Now I just have to convince them to open early than 11am and add CFS to their menu.
