Was up from Florida, in Hinesville, GA this weekend visiting daughter and son-in-law, near the Fort Stewart Army base. It's a small town about 30 miles SW of Savannah.
Someone had some 'cue cooking up in a big smoker out on the main drag, Oglethorpe Highway. It looked like my kind of place, and it was 12 noon, so my car pulled in.
Family operation, looks like dad maning the smoker and cash register and mom taking orders and serving up the goodies.
Their card says "Prior owners of Gate 7" fwiw.
We got a chopped ("chipped") pork platter and a rib platter.
Pork and ribs were excellent, nice and juicy but with a good amount of bark.
Side of baked beans okay, but the real star of the sides was the collard greens. Wow. Just great, and chocked full of leftover bits and pieces of ham hocks. Yum.
Nice little find, friendly folks, friendly prices, give it a try.
