My SO and I like making evening strolls through the areas of Los Angeles, usually after dinner. However Los Angeles is not really a walking kind of town, and almost everyone shutters up for the night around 7am.
Can you tell me areas that are very pedestrian friendly in the evenings (from 7pm until at least 10pm) even on weekdays? Places where we may find other people walking around, where there are still quirky stores open which we may browse inside. And to keep this on topic, where there are still several restaurants to choose from, especially coffeeshops (not Starbucks), and bakery/dessert places.
Not really interested in the artificially created areas like City Walk, Block at Orange, or Irvine Spectrum, which are essentially malls minus a roof.
Examples of this would be 3rd Street Promenade and Old Town Pasadena, but those places are getting a bit tired; the little block on Franklin in Hollywood; maybe Main Street in Alhambra (who knows, it might be better in a couple years); and Sunset Strip for seeing the worst in stereotypical Los Angeles.
I'm willing to go anywhere within Los Angeles County.
