ethnic crawl joints, etc. for one doing Atkins: several questions

elr | Sep 22, 200306:23 PM     7

hi,
I'm staying in dwntwn & working in Koreatown for the next 2.5 weeks for work. I've read through the "ethnic crawl joints" postings and have found them very helpful, but I do have a few questions:

1. What would be a good Asian "crawl joint" in general area that isn't heavily noodle or dumpling-based? Or does this not exist? I'm also very interested in Korean BBQ suggestions (and I'll ignore the rice).

2. The NYT last month did an article on strip mall dining in LA. Raves went to Zankou. Will it be worth the wait, or are there better options?

3. Article also mentions Palms Thai in Hollywood. I can't find it on a yahoo yellow pages search. Is the food good, or is the draw the Asian Elvis?

4. I also want to eat one truly fabulous meal while I'm here. Any suggestions for someplace terrific but not too dressy?

Anyway, this Balto-DC hound thanks you, thanks you in advance for all your help....
