Essence of India on Guerrero-22nd: Anyone tried it?

Arnie Gubins | Apr 16, 2004 03:42 PM

At a location that seems to frequently change restaurants, the newest incarnation at 1007 Guerrero (22nd, next to Quetal coffee house) is Essence of India. Has anyone tried it? Their flyer shows dinners
nightly but lunches only Sat & Sun. Along with the usual Tandoor, Korma, Biryany, Masala and Vindaloo categories, they list "Bhuna Dishes" described as "a method of cooking whereby the ground spices are fried and stirred at a high temperature with small amounts of water added at regular intervals to prevent them from sticking and burning. The meat or vegetables are added and the temperature lowered, finishing off with a burst of high heat to reduce any liquid."
