Equator now open in S.E.

Equator is now open on Washinton Street, near Mass Ave in the South End.

From blurb last month in the Improper, I was expecting an Asian fusion restaurant, but it is more like a Pan-Asian menu...a few Thai items, a few Korean, a few Japanese, etc. Many "standards" including Pad Thai, Bulgolgi, Seaweed salad, etc. A few more interesting items. Menu reminded me of a scaled back Jae's. In addition to the Asian items, they also offer several diferent steaks and prime rib.

they don't have their liquor license yet, so it is BYOB for the next week or so.

I had the shrimp with avocado. 4 large tasty grilled shrimp with grilled avocado slices in a peanut sauce. also included julienned veggies. Rice could be ordered as an optional side. Was good, but for $19, it seemed on the small side. My husband had the bulgolgi - also good, but didn't come with any sides or rice. seemed a bit sparse.

Atmosphere was very nice. Lot's of windows along Washington St. Wood panelling on the inside.

Overall, I wasn't wowed, but will try again once they get rolling.
