Oh, how I envy you residents of Seattle

My husband and I just returned from a business trip to Seattle. We stayed there for five days and ate all over the city.

Standouts: Cafe Campagne for pork cheek and celery root remolaude with pink wine (better, actually than my meal at Campagne); clam chowder at Etta's; pizza by the slice and guanciale at the Italian market at Pike's place; two whole salmon packed by Pike Place Fish; dinner at Lampreia, very expensive and a little precious but ultimately very good.

Unimpressive: Flying Fish- LA has much better fusion; Hotel Monaco; crabby bartender at Four Seasons;

But the real standout, the best food we had, the place that made us really envy you was Salumi. God this place is great. I had the oxtail sandwich and wine (big wine! placed on the table!) and bought a lot of cured meats. Wonderful friendly service, great customers. My husband finally came and enjoyed the lamb sausage. Our favorite meats have been the sublime tongue (so subtle, is it cinnamon?) and salumi salami. I so so wish they shipped.
