I've been wanting to go hit the Enterprise Fish Company's Mon/Tues lobster special for a while and finally got a chance last night. They're running a special 2lb maine lobster for $25, and, at that price, I'm willing to give it a shot.
My fiance started with a lychee martini- tinned lychee but still tasty, while I had a very respectable hefeweisen from the tap selection. For appetizers we shared the fried clams- your basic heavy fried dough wrapped around some nice fresh clam- think these may have been cut strips of larger clams (on the east coast they use quahogs for this sometimes if memory serves). Nothing superb or ephemeral, but definitely sufficient to satisfy your fried clam fix, and not the sort of thing which would be out of place on a paper plate or brown paper bag at a picnic table. The crab cake was unimpressive- a 'mix of crab, lobster, and shrimp' the baby shrimp were reminscent of bait, and the filler was obtrusive and slightly mealy. Nothing I'd order again. We each got a cup of lobster bisque which was fairly tasty but contained little lobster when it came to either meat or flavor- a sweetened cream soup with a hint of the sea in it. Lastly, out came the punch line- the lobster. Two pounds of just-steamed Maine lobster split in two with drawn butter. Sweet, tasty, with enormous claws- perhaps a bit overdone, but not enough to blunt the carnage that ensure. Shell, legs, and juice everywhere. My lobster jones was well satisfied.
Total tab for 2 with tip (both getting lobster and drinks)- $120. If we'd skipped the appetizers (as I'd be inclined to next time) it would have run under $100- not at all bad for 4 lbs of lobster.
