Well as it's starting to get chilly in some parts around the North East, and since I only started reading chowhounds about a year ago, what is the consensus on who serves the "best" New England-style(ie not RI or Manhattan) clam chowder in the Boston area. I mean the potato, clam, and cream kind.
The last post on this subject (based only a search for "chowder") is linked below and only included at least 3 places really for this type: Legal, Barking Crab, Skipjacks and Kingfish.
Would Kingfish only be on par for the saffron broth type or the NE milky type?
Friends and I argue this all the time, some include Union Oyster (which I do like).
Last time I was there, I thought the New England Soup Factory produced a decent batch, but it has been a while since I've eaten there.
Comments, suggestions, new places?
thanks in advance,
