Encounter at LAX - do it for the experience

snackish | Nov 6, 200406:43 PM

Yes, I'm talking about that old funky airport on the arched stilts right in the middle of LAX.

The food is ok - I had a grilled vegetarian dagwood - grilled eggplant, portobello roasted peppers and cheese on 7 grain bread and iced tea, Mr. Snackish got a cheeseburger and about half pound of fries.

Both were acceptable, nothing to tell your chowfriends about, a little expensive - my sandwich was $13 (it is an airport after all), but the decor is just the bomb.

You feel like you are in Captain Kirk's favorite outerspace bar. Everything from the tiny groovy elevator with the purple glow lights to the orbs of metallic glass surrounding the sinks is just the looniest postmodern fun.

The bar would overlooks the runways, so it might be fun just to go drink a martini as the sun sets and take in the scene.
