A highlight of my Valentine's Day was sharing a delicious French bistro lunch at bustling Encore Bistro Francais on Chatsworth Ave., Larchmont. It was just what I wanted that day, and my partner was happily surprised, too. We were seated in the ante-room and were immediately handed menus. It had been a while, so we had a chance to look around. Charm all the way thru with Gallic bistro artifacts strewn throughout. The room had aged nicely.
I craved their popular Salade Parisienne with garlic dressing, served in a bowl with frisee, smoked bacon, mushrooms, croutons and poached egg on top. It kept me in foodie heaven for a while along with my crusty buttered bread. Each bite a delight! My guest opted for their daily 3-course prix-fixe lunch, a bargain at $17.50. For her first course, she chose the Frisee Salade with vinaigrette, light and palate pleasing. Her main: Truite aux Almandes, a delightful almond sauce. Before dessert, we decided to share an order of the house Country-style Pate Maison, a very ample slice served with cornichons, toast points, mustard and a side of roquette lettuce in a vinaigrette. Delish and earthy! As for our sweets, Crème Brulee, of course, done the right way. Decadently smooth! A nice bottle of Hob Nob helped, too.
Our compliments to Proprietor David Masliah and Chef Erwen Perez and the staff for a job well done. www.encore-bistro.com
