EMP Rest. Wk Lunch Report

Restaurant Week Menu had 5 choices for each course.

Sliced scallops with frisse and mesclun salad and a mustard dressing on the side (very tender, too much frisse and not enough mesclun)

Chilled cucumber soup with crème fraiche and some salmon in the center (soup was not pureed enough, too thick)

Linguine with 3 mussels (didn’t try this)

Cheeky beef salad (we did not order this)

Bean salad with goat cheese (we did not order this)

Seared mahi mahi with eggplant puree and very buttery couscous (delicious, it was so tender)

Sautéed halibut with bean salad (nothing extraordinary)

Grilled pork belly with roasted potatoes (didn’t try this)

Vegetable dish with goat cheese (we did not order this)

Capon (we did not order this)

EMP cookies (2 chocolate cookies, 2 Oreo cookies, 2 linzer tart cookies) didn’t like any of the cookies and I was hoping that I would since I love linzer cookies and like Oreo cookies and who could dislike a chocolate cookie. Also, the appearance of the cookies was unattractive. Once the cookies were put in front of me, my Dad said it wouldn’t be good, before I took a single bite.

Lemon tart was like an unmolded crème brulee with an intense lemon flavor and cherry ice cream (this was my favorite dessert)

Mango and coconut sorbet with chopped fresh mango (didn’t try this, but it looked good)

Chocolate cake with fresh strawberries and banana whipped cream (chocolate cake was not moist enough, good combo of flavors though)

Don’t remember the other choice

Service was typical of a Danny Meyer restaurant and food presentation was nice. I read Mdekay’s earlier EMP Rest. Week post and the menu seems to have changed this week. Are some restaurants changing the menus between the 2 weeks? I was very surprised. But that said, this is the only restaurant that has 5 choices in each course.
