Finally was able to get to Acme Bakery in time to have an apple tart. Have dropped by a few times in the past and they were sold out. I found out that they are baked twice in the morning: at 8am and then again at 10:30am. I tried the apple tart and the apple turnover - preferred the apple tart but wished that the pastry had been a bit sweeter. Maybe a bit of sugar sprinkled on it before baking? I like that the apple wasn't overly sweet and you could taste the apple but the pastry was leaning a bit too much toward the savory for my taste. When I got home, I put the tart into the toaster oven and rewarmed it which made it much better but the topper was when I pulled out my stash of apple cider syrup and drizzled it over the apple tart......perfect! *Easy to make your own- start with a good, tart unfiltered apple juice and simply reduce it until it reaches a syrup consistency. Skim regularly .... the flavor really becomes intense.
