El Taquito Mexicano - Pasadena

WildSwede | Oct 12, 200508:03 PM

Thanks, CulverJack!
Had to go to the post office today and was in the 'hood so thought I would stop and try is as per our posts earlier.
Parked on Villa and immediately noticed a taco truck - wait, is this the same truck that is parked on Fair Oaks at night that I go to all the time?? Maybe... then I start recognizing faces.
YES!! El Taquito Mexicano the restaurant and El Taquito Mexicano the Taco Truck are one in the same!!
So I decided to go with what I know and love - tacos. I asked for the chicharron taco but they only have that on the truck. Darn, since it is my favorite. No matter, order 2 al pastor and 2 carne asada. Sat down at one of the 8 or so tables inside. Out came chips with both of their salsas. Now, I have always gone for their red salsa which is hot, and never tried their green, but boy is it good!
A few minutes later the tacos. For 99 cents each, who can complain. They do a good job but I think La Estrella (across the street) does a better job with the al pastor but I think I like El Taquito's carne asada better.
I asked what the house special is and she said that the Costillas de Puerco (pork ribs) in a red ranchero sauce are popular. They also have breakfast, burritos, tostadas, sopes, quesadillas, soups (3), combo plates - bistek encebollado, Pollo en Mole, Pollo Frito (fried chicken), Bistek Ranchero.
