El Oriental de Cuba review

On the other hand, I had an awesome visit to El Oriental de Cuba with xiaodan and another chow-friend on Saturday afternoon.

Started off with fruit shakes: guanabana (my favorite), mamey, and strawberry. Very high quality and quite a bargain at $2.50.

Then we shared the goat stew special w/sweet plantains and yellow rice (deeelicious), mafongo (this is a mound of mashed plantain w/pork rinds served with some kind of sauce. We ordered it because we saw it on several people's tables and it looked intriguing. I found it oddly addictive but xiaodan wasn't crazy about it), cod patty (boring), and a Cuban sandwich (good as ever, but not as good as Chez Henri's).

Service was slow but polite, and we left extremely satisfied. I love this place.
