Egyptian - Bread and Koshary in Bay Area?

alyssay | Jul 13, 2006 11:17 PM

Does anyone know of anywhere that I can buy Egyptian style aish balady "local bread"(a little like pita bread but this is very soft and has a ground whole grain of some sort sprinkled on it)in the Bay Area?
Also, on the topic of Egyptian food, anyone ever seen any Koshary (elbow pasta, vermicelli, rice, chickpeas, and lentils with tomato sauce and fried onions on top, served with a spicy/vinegar sauce) places? I think al-Masry has it but I am looking for a place a little more casual (and cheap-- I feel a bit weird about paying $15 for a 20 cent Egyptian meal).
Or how about Ta'amiyya?
Thanks!
