Ed's Potsticker House & Friendship Restaurant

LHT | Apr 18, 2005 01:28 AM

Recently several of my friends and I visited both Ed's and Friendship restaurants to try some of the recommended Chinese restaurants. First, Ed's Potsticker House. We tried the House Potsticker,Hot & Sour soup, the soup dumplings and the spicy fish in brown sauce. I enjoyed the dumplings and the good sized hot & sour soup But the potstickers were disappointing and priced at $4.95 because it was dinnertime(?). The fish was full of bones and not a bargain at $13.95. Plus the waiter charged us $5 for the 2 cans of Coca Cola we ordered. If someone can make a few suggestions, we may give it one more chance but right now we're not very impressed. Friendship Restaurant was better. Their potstickers were more "traditional" and better made. Their honey walnot shrimp was nicely executed and their Beef Chow Fun was okay. Their Hot & Sour soup did contain seafood (imitation crab) which unfortunately was stale.
Unlike other Chinese restaurants which offer a group dinner, Friendship didn't have one. That would have made the excursion a little less pricey. Not bad for a restaurant outside of Chinatown but we still prefer Chinatown. Next month we plan to try Fabulous Noodles.
