Eating sunflowers? Do they taste like artichokes? How to prepare?

Main Line Tracey | Aug 19, 201406:35 PM     22

So many questions! I read this article about a restaurant in NY that is serving sunflowers. They boil, blanch, and then partially fry the flower part, after having removed the yellow, brown and green leaves. The flower "bulb" is supposed to taste very much like an artichoke, as sunflowers and artichokes are supposedly in the same family.

I'd really like to try this! I have 3 dozen sunflowers and I love artichokes! Any tips or advice on how to prepare sunflowers? Anyone done this? I plan on trying it tomorrow!
