Eating Out on Sundays

Val G | Apr 6, 2002 10:19 AM

I’ve read that Sunday is not the best day to visit restaurants. The food isn’t fresh. The manager is out. Cooking is done by the B-team. I’m looking for a Sunday chow strategy.

My husband and I will travel to Manhattan on the next 10 Sundays. Our writing class meets in the West Village. We plan to spend late afternoons walking around mid and lower Manhattan and nearby sections of Brooklyn and Queens.

I will consult my back issues of TriState ChowNews for recommended restaurants. Any general rules about Sundays? I know the financial district will be quiet. Are there any immigrant neighborhoods that thrive on Sundays? We like every kind of delicious food.

Which way would you walk on a Sunday afternoon with $60, a hungry stomach and an adventurous chow partner?
