eating good on the vegas strip?

max in oakland | Feb 15, 2002 05:00 PM

I have to go to a bachelor party in Vegas next weekend. I'm only going to be in town for about 36 hours, and I was hoping to find some decent food on the Strip, since I won't have a car. I don't mind spending money, but I want to feel like it's worth it; I'm not particularly interested in celebrity chefs. I may very well be alone, since the other guys will probably want to spend their money at the tables (or in other places). From what I've been able to find out, Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris sounds pretty good (I'm fond of the more-or-less authentic brasserie). But no one's mentioned it here since last June. Any opinions?

Is it really cool to order seafood in the desert? There have been a couple "bad oyster" stories on this board. Also, does anyone want to take a position on whether Nobu is worth it?

I want to thank everyone for all the excellent Vegas advice and stories I've already found here.
