This video has great points: "Believe it or not you can actually eat healthier and take a bite out of your budget at the same time." "Skip those unhealthy calories and pre-packaged food; Above all THINK FRESH." "Eat seasonal; seasonal vegetables are less expensive because there is an abundance of them."

1) Substitute fresh food for processed; much cheaper and much better for you.

2) Make a list; and stick to it when shopping. BTW, OurGroceries is a great shopping list app I recommend everyone use - smaki.

3) Never buy cut-up fruit; do that stuff yourself, and nutrient values will be higher when hasn't been sitting around pre-chopped.

4) Meatless meals; beans & lentils offer protein with fiber and cost pennies per serving.

5) Dump those expensive processed snacks. Skip processed food cook with basic ingredients instead.

6) Make friends with department managers; find out when meat and produce markdowns happen to get your proteins and produce for less.
