Eat and Run at the Washington Square Tavern

I visited the Washington Square Tavern last evening looking forward to experiencing dinner, to quote their website, "where the service is friendly, the atmosphere is pleasantly laidback and the food is second to none when it comes to freshness and preparation".

While I did find the food to be very good, I'm certain I would have enjoyed my dinner even more had I been allowed to finish it before my extremely unfriendly server (hello is always nice and maybe even a how is everything) and an over-eager hostess removed my plate from the table and plopped down a check. Even after handing the check back to our server, ordering another drink and saying she could keep the bill until we were done, with wine glasses still full, the hostess asked us to move to the bar with our drinks. I would have been happy to move to the bar had there been a single available chair, corner, or three foot space to stand.

I would caution anyone wishing to come up for air while eating or have a conversation with a friend against visiting the Washington Square Tavern...."where the service is friendly, the atmosphere is pleasantly laidback...".
