Hey you guys!
I'm visiting Seattle right now, grew up in New York outer boroughs, now live between San Francisco and Napa.
I came to CH (and HO) looking for ideas a few weeks ago, with little success. Not that I have a lot of options. I'm at a conference at the Seattle Conference Center, and have twice in six hours walked to what appears to be Capitol Hill ( ha! ha! I've also lived in DC) for tacos at Fogón Cocina Mexicana and barbq at Meaty Johnson's.
Walked in the rain, uphill, for this BBq in Capitol Hill, Seattle. Meaty Johnson’s: http://www.capitolhillseattle.com/201...
I had fish, Al pastor, and carne asado at Fogón Cocina Mexicana. ( I know…who leaves California, and looks for tacos in Seattle? Am I wrong? I’m listening. I LOVE fish tacos!) The fish tacos and the al pastor were okay, but the carne asado they brought (by mistake) were even better! The tostada that apparently comes on the house was a nice touch, as was the lunchtime crowd.
I might try La Cocina Oaxaqueña before I leave!
The “Meaty” place was out of Mac and cheese ( just as well!). Potato salad was “meh”, St. Louis cut ribs very good. Brisket looking good, and how bad can a hot link be?
Any suggestions around there? I would love some good sashimi, but it would be great if I could walk.
Eater has given me some ideas, and so has @JayDK.
Going to Taylor Shellfish for some oysters. I think I will hike up to Momiji for some sushi as well.
Anything else I should try at Melrose market? I have a small, empty (yay!) fridge at the Grand Hyatt.
