My parents called me at noon today -- unforeseen circumstances left them in urgent need of a good lunch in Kenmore Square. I wasn't near my computer but remembered all the good things reported here about Eastern Standard so I sent them there (I've never been but trust all of you). They just called to report that they loved it -- the space, the service, and ESPECIALLY the food. They shared an app of frisee, sweetbreads, lardons and poached egg (and something else) and a main of duck confit with lentils and thought both were delicious and reasonably priced ($10 and $12, respectively). The waiter steered them to a red by the glass that they'd never had before (Ludovicus?) which they loved and even offered them an extra "splash" at the end of their meal.
(I have to say, a waiter who gives terrific service to people sharing an app and an entree is to be highly commended -- he didn't know that they are great tippers (trained by me), after all.)
