I knocked a half day off today and decided to give East Manor's lunch buffet a try. Since I had to go back to work at 1:00 p.m., we arrived there at around 11:30 a.m. where the buffet was supposed to start. We were first caught off guard by seeing the notice on the door for charging weekend price on Patriot's day which is only a floating holiday. Since we had been driving more than 30 minutes to go there, we decided to go along with it.
When we stepped into the restaurant, the receptionist just looked at us without saying a word. I went up to her and asked when it would start and was told it would be ready in five minutes. While we were waiting, we overheard a lady, with a group of about 8 people, asking the receptionist why they charged more today and were the food different from regular weekdays. The receptionist could hardly answer the questions and the lady said,"please tell your boss that it is a rip-off" then the whole group walked out of the restaurant.
At around 11:45, I was getting impatient and heard the "five minute trick" again when other customer asking the same question.
I realised that we wouldn't be seated until noon and there was no way that all the food wouldn't be ready at that time. To cut the loss, we decided to take off and go to Kelly's instead.
While we were driving out the restaurant's bumpy exit, we wondered how long this restaurant could last.
